Katie Young - Owner / Trainer
Katie Young has been actively involved in the horse business for over 40 years. She worked at riding stables in Menlo Park, CA throughout her childhood. Wanting to become a
professional she enrolled in the horse master school at Pacific Horse Center which was directed by Larry Langer in Sacramento, Ca in 1976. After completing her courses she worked under Larry for the
following five years as Barn Manager, Assistant Instructor/Trainer and Horse Master Instructor. Since then she has had successful Hunter/Jumper training businesses throughout the South and began
Coriander Farm in Jacksonville in 1992. Her students have had many
successes locally, regionally and nationally. Among those successes were her daughter Megan's wins of the North American
Equitation Championship, USEF Medal Finals and ASPCA Maclay Finals. Katie is a Registered USEF Hunter, Hunter Breeding, Jumper and Hunter Seat Equitation Judge. She serves on the boards of the North
Florida Hunter Jumper Association and the United States Hunter Jumper Association, for which she organizes several clinics to promote horsemanship and education. She believes that tailoring services to
meet the needs of her individual clients has been the key to maintaining a successful business throughout the years.
She says the best thing about being in the business is the enjoyment she gets from participating in the overall development of confidence and self esteem in so many young and
dedicated riders.

Kate Dempsey - Associate Trainer/Rider
Kate started out at age nine in the short stirrup on Shenandoah's Sun Shadow and was Champion nearly every time out. That was just the beginning of a stellar riding career. She
moved onto the Large pony Happy Camper who was a bit of a handful in the beginning, but under the training of Debby Gibson and Christina Schlusemeyer Kate transformed Happy into a mount that she would
win classes and titles at National Horse Shows including The Devon Country Fair and Horse Show.
As a teenager she lived at Quiet Hill Farm riding with Schlusemeyer and Bob Braswell where she could focus on her Junior Horses, Monticello, Whitaker, Embassy Row, and Tortuga
all of whom took winning honors with Kate in the irons in the Hunters and the Equitation at competitions such as Pennsylvania National Horse Show and the Washington International Horse Show. She
stepped up quickly to do the jumpers. She started with the world champion event horse Ask Away. She had many successes on this wonderful horse including winning the $25,000 children's jumper
class at HITS. She took to the jumpers and had the opportunity to ride with Grand Prix rider Todd Minikus. She rode the quirky horse Celebrate to wins and placings in the junior jumpers and in
several Grand Prix's across the East Coast, She graduated from Pratt Institute in NYC 2005 and has been riding professionally since.
Kate is a great cheer leader when the kids need encouragement and is quick to find solutions to move students forward correctly.
